Looking for a fun and unique way to showcase your marching band’s talents? The holidays make for the perfect opportunity to take part in a parade that promises to be filled with high energy, crowds filling the streets, larger than life floats, performers and much more. The following parades highlight some of the most famous holiday parades that can provide you a chance to showcase your marching band students’ talents with memories to last a lifetime:

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (New York, NY) – For many, the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade signifies the start of the holiday season. More than 3.5 million people fill the streets and view the parade along the parade route, and more than 50 million viewers tune in to the television broadcast. Spectators watch in awe as 10,000 participants including the nation’s best marching bands, performance groups, giant helium balloons, breathtaking floats and the one-and-only Santa Claus pass before their eyes.

National Cherry Blossom Festival (Washington, DC) – The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade takes place during the two-week National Cherry Blossom Festival in mid-April. The parade entertains 300,000 people with helium balloons, floats, dancers, singers and marching bands celebrating the arrival of spring. The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade culminates the four-week celebration with a two-hour procession along Constitution Avenue that draws an on-site audience of more than 150,000 and is nationally syndicated.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade (New York, NY) – The New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade is the oldest and largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the world. The parade is held annually on March 17th at precisely 11:00 AM in honor of St. Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland and of the Archdiocese of New York. The parade route goes up Fifth Avenue beginning at East 44th Street and ending at East 79th Street. Approximately 150,000 people march in the parade which draws about 2 million spectators.

Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade (Philadelphia, PA) – First held in 1920, the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade has a vibrant legacy as the oldest Thanksgiving Day parade in America. The 1.4-mile parade route steps off from the intersection of 20th Street and JFK Boulevard, turns left onto 16th Street and then left onto Ben Franklin Parkway. The telecast area is located near the end of the route, directly in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The parade is aired live on channel 6abc and is syndicated to various markets east of the Mississippi.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade (Dublin, Ireland) For two hours you will participate in an awesome display of creative talent as the parade snakes its way through the city center. You will be joined by music ensembles from around the world, including Ireland, France, Germany, the Bahamas, Switzerland, and the USA, delivering uplifting rhythms. “I couldn’t have asked for a better trip. I was nervous about traveling as a chaperone with 30+ high schoolers, as I have been on badly organized trips, but this was amazing! Enough information was handed out before hand and, as unexpected things came up (Covid-19 national crisis) . . . . Thanks for a great trip!”
Parent, Kentucky
“I wouldn’t recommend any other company to plan our trips. They are well organized and always have my student’s best interest in mind. The trips I have taken with them (Hawaii, California and Florida) have always run smoothly. I can’t recommend them enough.”
